***LIVE APPEARANCE: RICK FLORES***
THURSDAY - SATURDAY, NOV. 19 - 21  |  6 PM

Rick Flores has been performing professionally since 1981. He earned his Masters degree in guitar performance from Cal State Hayward in a 1986 under Jim Bertram and has studied with such world renowned classical guitarists such as Julian Bream from England, and the great Cuban virtuoso Manuel Barrueco among others.

In 1995 he began performing extensively with the McGuiness/Flores Duo; a soprano/guitar duo that specialized in commissioning new works for guitar and voice from local composers. In 1998 he performed in the opera “Gaia Sophia” by William Ludke that was premiered in San Francisco and recorded on CD.

In 1999 his interest in ethnic music led him to study Indian and Balinese music from  Mindhi Devi, an accomplished Bansuri player as well as a Balinese music scholar. Rick began composing music based on various world influences by blending his classical training with altered tunings, percussion, and unconventional strumming techniques.

In 2007 he began performing with the acclaimed Latin American folk ensemble, Cascada de Flores” as well as performing with several local jazz groups. He also now performs regularly with the “Coro Hispano de San Francisco”, a choir that is dedicated to performing classical and folkloric music from South America, Mexico and early California.

Rick has been a dedicated educator in the Bay Area since 1988 and teaches at Cal State Stanislaus, ChabotCollege in Hayward and DiabloValleyCollege in Pleasant Hill. He has published four method books for guitar and has composed extensively for guitar ensemble and solo guitar.

His solo performances are an exciting combination of jazz, blues and world music, with classical and unconventional techniques borrowed from other world traditions.

PERFORMING LIVE AT ARTundressed (LOS ANGELES)

ICKY'S EGO

Icky’s Ego is the musical collaboration of Los Angeles based duo David Crocco and Cela Scott. The pair spend their daylight hours sequestered in a castle in the Hollywood Hills with engineer extraordinaire Brian D. Hardin, investigating sonic landscapes and mental meltdowns. David’s contributions include vocals, percussion, guitar, and keyboards. Dave was born in Port Washington, NY, and lived in Hudson, OH until he was a teenager. He moved to Atlanta, GA with his rock band Tabula Rasa and toured the southeast, eventually settling in Tennessee to mix audio on Nashville's prestigious music row. Dave's talent as a mixer brought him to LA, where he now owns the post production audio company A.G.E. Post. Cela supplies vocals and guitar. She grew up in Nashville, TN, fronting America's first generation of eccentric home schooled children. She came to LA to attend USC's school of theatre, and completed the program with a BFA. Recently, her focus has been in rock and roll music, the forbidden love she'd harbored during many childhood years spent touring with a classical children's choir. Their hard-hitting/ambient sound is rounded out by the talents of musicians Teri Hitt, Phil Brathwait, June Kato and DeAnn Dallas. Some of Dave and Cela’s musical loves and influences are The Beatles, DJ Shadow, Bjork, Led Zeppelin, Prince, P. J. Harvey, Massive Attack, The Doors, Jeff Buckley, Beck, Public Enemy, Sigur Ross, David Bowie, The White Stripes, The Pretenders, The Police, and Pink Floyd…
